For Indians it is very sacred thing to visit the temples. In every village, town city we are having temples. But we do not visit the temple daily or weekly.

Christians not all but most of the Christians attend the mass on every Sunday.

Most ofthe Muslims daily attend the Namaz at Masque . Previously @ Hyderabad ladies were not attending the namaz at Masque but now a day Muslim ladies are attending.

Now I know we Hindus attend visit the temples on festival days and on some sacred days like Ekadashi,Karthika Pournima etc. May be because daily we do puja @ our homes.

I never thought of visiting various temples in India.

When I started visiting the temples which are situated outside Hyderabad wasfor my emotional satisfaction and curiosity. My first visit to the temple outside Hyderabad was to Gokarnam.

I was reading a book bynameGurucharitra in which the sthala purana(the story because of whichthe place or village acquired the sacredness)of Gokarnam was mentioned. So I wanted to visit that place.

When I stepped at that place I feltpowerful vibrations. That is the place where the Atma ling of Lord shiva gone into earth. The templeis very ancient temple . It is situated on the banks of Arabian sea . Very small village. We stayed for 3 days and it was a memorable trip for me.

In all 18 puranas and also in Bhagawat katha, it is mentioned that many of the divine peoplestayed at Badarinath and meditated for years together. The beliefis that even today the saint Narada takes care of the temple for 6 months when it is closed for the winter. And Pandavas left this world with their bodies to heaven from Badari even though except the eldest brother Dharmaraju no one could reach! So for me to visit Badarinath was a very sacred thing. And when I sat in the temple in meditation I had beautiful experiences and emotionally very much satisfying ! When I was walking on the hillsfrom temple to Brahma Kapal I felt as ifI was just a step away from the heaven.

We believe that when a person travels from Kashi, (Varanasi) to Rameswaram and again back to Kashi it is a Parikrama of the earth. So We have started our parikrama from Kashi.

First we went to Alahabad took the whollydip in Ganges. Then took the water went to Kashi and laterwent toRameshwaram . Did the Abhishekamwith the Ganga water to lord Shiva at Rameswaram temple. We took a dip in the seas of Rameshwaram andon the banks of the sea with the sand made Shivling and didthe Abhishek, then took part of the sand from the shivling we made and took it to Kashi again and immersed in Ganges. Then one Parikrama was complete. Like that we made 3 parikramas. So it was another emotional fulfillment.
Rameswaram Jyotirlinga

Then when I visited Dwaraka , Mathura and Brindavanone of my child hood dream came true. In India from the childhood we are taught with the stories of lord Rama and Lord Krishna. So it was a pleasure to stand on the land where lord Krishna played, grown up and spent his life.So it was thrilling experience for me to be in Dwaraka.

Then Guruvayur. In Bhagawatit is mentioned that when lord Krishna was about to leave this world he tells and instructs his friend Udhav that after he left the world Udhav had to search in the sea where Dwaraka was to immerse and when he finds the deity he has to put that in a place where he thinks proper placefor the lord Krishna to stay. And after the Nirvana of Lord Krishna ,Udhv and Narad search the seas and found the deity and put it @ Guruvayur. So if we visit Guruvayur we may really find Lord Krishna.

Then Kailsh- Manas Sarovar tour. Even though my main intention was to see the Swans (Raja Hansa)When I was at the banks of Manassarovar in the night , and also when I slept under the mount Kailash after my first day Parikrama made me feel as if I was really in Kailash and with divine powers.

So for Indians visiting temples is an emotional ( I am not sure it is the right wordfor bhavana in our hearts) fulfillment. At least for me. For me it becomes an urge to visit certain place after reading about the sanctity of that particular place in our Puranas .And I EXPERIENCE beautiful emotions when I am at those places.

How true it is the saying Every thing is in our vision

Eth Bhavam Thath Bhavathi.

But for visitors the construction, the architectural value and artistic out look are more attractive.

Whatever we search we find that I suppose ? What do you say friends
