TEMPLES
Today I was listening to one beautiful song and when the alap reached new heights I closed my eyes and was experiencing the divine feeling .
Suddenly I have remembered some thing. In Hyderabad there is a Balaji temple @ Chilukur a small near by village. The temple is also called Visa Balaji temple. The belief is that Balaji makes American Embassy to grant visas of all sorts to come to America .
The temple priest tells all the people standing in the Q , as soon as they reach the Deity Dont close your eyes , have a darshan of the God
I really did not understand whether his thinking is right or my thinking is correct.
When we stand before God we have to start looking at the deity from the feet and slowly to the face and then we close our eyes and try to experience the one ness with the God while praying. Thats what I do.
When we listen to beautiful music we close our eyes and try to experience the beauty of the raaga and many times the music touches our soul . Many times we can reach the God through music .
Even when we smell good flavors we close our eyes and try toenjoy the beauty of it.
So according to me for real enjoyment many times we close our eyes and try to catch the joy.
What do you think? Are we to close our eyes or not before the Deity?
